MODULE 02
Surface vs. Pattern
In Module 02, each student was given a square cut out of a famous painting and a 3D model of a part of Tasmanian terrain. Utilizing both samples, we were tasked to represent the given sample using Rhino and Panelling Tools to design a panelled surface using a 10x10 grid.

PROCESS
The painting that we were tasked to sample is from Fra Angelico's Virgin of Humility.

Then from the several terrain options of Tasmania, I was given this one to study and implement.

Using the Panelling Tools in Rhino, I came up with a set of iterative studies for the Grid and Panels. I determined which of these looks the most familiar with the painting sample. After choosing the best Grid and Panel, I continued to create another set of hybrids and finalized picking the finest one.

With the finalized Hybrid, I accurately nested it so it could be realistically cut-out in reality.

For the Artefact we manipulated it in Rhino by extruding, rotating, and stretching the pyramids to mimic the sample once again.

FINAL RENDERS
Using Raytracing in Rhino, here are the closeups of the artefact.
